Study of ground- and low-lying nuclear states by combining laser ionization and Penning trap mass spectrometry

Abstract : The combination of resonant laser ionization, nuclear spectroscopy and mass measurements allows the deconvolution of the low-energy structure of atomic nuclei. Three $\beta$-decaying isomers of $^{70}$Cu have been unambiguously identified with the Penning trap mass spectrometer ISOLTRAP. In addition, isomerically pure ensembles of the short-lived radionuclides $^{68;70}$Cu have been prepared.
