Mass formula for $\Lambda$ hypernuclei based on SU(6) symmetry

Abstract : An extension of the Weizsäcker mass formula is proposed for the simultaneous description of normal (i.e. non-strange) nuclei and {LAMBDA} hypernuclei. The mass formula is inspired by the spin–flavour SU(6) symmetry of Gürsey and Radicati and includes a Majorana term. Available masses of normal nuclei and Image hypernuclei are analysed with the formula. It is found that the Majorana term successfully replaces the conventional pairing term.
