Abstract : The Double Chooz experiment aims at improving the current knowledge about the neutrino mixing angle Θ13, for which only an upper bound is known. For Θ13>0, it may be possible to observe leptonic CP violation included within the neutrino oscillation framework through a Dirac phase. As hadronic CP violation effects are too small to explain the apparent matter-antimatter asymmetry of the universe, leptonic CP violation is a promising candidate to be explored today. To surpass the accuracy of the CHOOZ experiment with a reactor $\overline nu_e$ experiment, higher statistics and reduced systematics are mandatory. The multidetector strategy chosen by Double Chooz will--in combination with well directed R&D and careful previous termdetectornext term construction--be able to achieve these requirements.
