Multifragmentation and spinodal decomposition of finite nuclear systems

Abstract : A bulk effect in multifragmentation of very heavy fused systems has been experimentally evidenced. Such an effect is very well reproduced by a complete dynamical simulation of collisions in which multifragmentation occurs through the growth of density fluctuations in the unstable spinodal region of the phase diagram of nuclear matter.
