4He-induced L X-ray production cross sections in Pt and Bi

Abstract : L shell X-ray production cross sections for 4He on Pt and Bi are measured at 2.0, 2.3 and 3.0 MeV. Good agreement is found with the available data of Balsamo et al. [A. Balsamo, N. De Cesare, F. Murolo, E. Perillo, G. Spadaccini, M. Vigilante, J. Phys. B: Atom. Mol. Opt. Phys. 32 (1999) 5699]. The results are compared with those of theoretical calculations using the ECPSSR model [W. Brandt, G. Lapicki, Phys. Rev. A 23 (1981) 1717]. The difference already observed at low incident ion energy between ECPSSR calculations and measured data for the L$\beta$ and L$\gamma$ lines clearly appears in this work.
