Formulation of Alpha-Particle Condensation in the Macroscopic Limit

Abstract : Following closely BCS theory for pairs, an eventually viable theory for α-particle condensation (quartetting) is sketched. In the final formula the quartet wave function is replaced by a Slater determinant projected on good total momentum. The only variational field is then the single particle 0S wave function. This should reduce the numerical complexity to solve the quartet equations considerably.
