Turbulence and Supernova Neutrinos

Abstract : It has long been feared that the presence of turbulence in supernovae would erase the characteristic features in the neutrino signal of the next Galactic supernova that would have allowed us to determine fundamental properties of the neutrino and observe the explosion while it is still deep in the star. We examine the effect of turbulence upon the neutrinos and find that the damage to the signal is not as great as feared and that turbulence might also leave its own characteristic fingerprints in unexpected places.
