Abstract : The SuperNova Legacy Survey (SNLS) planned to observe about 500 type Ia supernovae in the redshift range 0.2 < z < 1 during a 5 years period. This project is based on a deep imaging survey at the Canadian-France_hawaii telescope (CFHT), and on a large spectroscopic survey at the European Southern Observatory Very Large Telescope (VLT), the Gemini North and South Telescopes, and the Keck Telescopes, to classify and measure the supernovae redshifts. I will present the spectroscopic observations performed at the VLT, the data reduction process, and a current status of observations and analysis.
