DIRAC Production Manager Tools

Abstract : DIRAC is the LHCb Workload and Data Management system used for Monte Carlo production, data processing and distributed user analysis. Such a wide variety of applications requires a general approach to the tasks of job definition, configuration and management. In this paper, we present a suite of tools called a Production Console, which is a general framework for job formulation, configuration, replication and management. It is based on Object Oriented technology and designed for use by a collaboration of people with different roles and computing skills. An application is built from a series of simple building blocks – modules, steps and workflow. The Production Console also provides a GUI which is used to formulate a distributed application in the form of platform independent Python code. The system is written in C++ and based on Qt, ensuring portability for a variety of operating systems (currently Linux and Windows versions exist.)
