Optical follow-up of high energy neutrinos detected by the ANTARES telescope

Abstract : The ANTARES Collaboration has developed a Target of Opportunity strategy to enhance the detection prospects to transient sources of high energy neutrinos, searching for an optical counterpart associated either to a single neutrino of high energy, either to a doublet of events in space and time coincidence. The ANTARES alert system can trigger the observation with a network of optical telescopes within a few minutes, making the system suitable for the observation of transient phenomena, such as Gamma Ray Bursts or Core Collapse SuperNovae. The system is operational since 2009, and since then more than 30 alerts have been sent to the TAROT and ROTSE telescopes: preliminary results on the analysis of optical images will be presented as well as the system performance.
