Abstract : We study theoretically the ground state properties of N=8, N=20, and N=40 neutron-rich isotones using the nonlinear relativistic mean-field theory. It is found that the nonlinear relativistic mean-field theory can very satisfactorily reproduce the ground state properties of the above nuclei, even near the neutron drip line. Some relevant phenomena on nuclear structure have been discussed.
