Abstract : The effect of the finite size of a critical system on the intermittency pattern is studied. It is shown that the correlations in a system of an infinitely long strip with finite width exhibit different behaviour on the distances of the order of the induced effective correlation range. Possible implications of this effect on the observation of the intermittency signal are discussed.
