Particle identification at LHC: Alice and LHCb

Abstract : The Alice and LHCb collaborations equipped their detectors with many technologies to identify particles in a large momentum range, both in the barrel and the forward regions. The methods used are described and some details on the hardware implementation are given. A few physics results illustrate the performances obtained by the two detectors.
