Abstract : Ground based gravitational detectors will soon reach a sensitivity such that a first direct direction is plausible. I will briefly recall the basics of gravitational wave physics and the main sources for terrestrial detectors (in particular in conjunction with GRBs). Then I will describe the LIGO and Virgo detectors and their advanced versions, aLIGO and Advanced Virgo. I will finally give a summary of the main observational results obtained so far and will discuss the perspectives for the next years.
