Selective production and purification techniques for EURISOL DF

Abstract : The SPES, HIE – ISOLDE and GANIL-SPIRAL 2 ISOL facilities, have followed different paths of innovative R&D for the production of radioactive ion beams which shall eventually serve the EURISOL facility. For each of these facilities, a key issue to address is the beam purity of the beams, on which depends the feasibility of a vast majority experiments. This talk is the last one of a serie of 3 aiming at presenting the different R&D undertaken in these different facilities. It will focus on state-of-the-art techniques for the purification of the radioactive ion beams, from the use of selective reaction mechanism or ionization techniques, to the use of innovative selection methods in traps, charge breeders and separators.
