This work presents results on the intermediate mass region and phi meson production in In–In collisions at 158 AGeV from the NA60 experiment. The excess previously measured in the intermediate mass region by NA50 in Pb–Pb collision is confirmed and its prompt origin is assessed for the first time. The phi meson transverse momentum, rapidity and decay angular distributions were measured with a high-statistics sample. The most notable result is the Tslope of the phi meson, which is shown to rise with centrality and to be essentially compatible with previous results from the NA49 experiment.
