N = 28 : From shell to shapes

New experimental information has been obtained recently on shape coexistence features in 43S27 and 44S28. These data confirm that Sulfur isotopes, in the vicinity of N = 28, belong to a region of spherical-deformed shape transition between 48Ca and 42Si. In this paper, the onset of collectivity and its impact on the structure of N~28 isotones is discussed.
