| Résumé : |
 |
A small animal PET prototype with continuous LYSO crystals coupled to silicon photomultipliers has been developed at IFIC, Valencia. The system consists of two detector heads attached to a rotating stage. Each detector head is composed of a continuous 12 mm x 12 mm crystal painted white, coupled to a monolithic silicon photomultiplier matrix. Tests with 5 mm and 10 mm thick crystals have been carried out. The matrix has 8x8 pixel elements of 1.4 mm x 1.5 mm size in a 1.5mm x 1.5mm pitch. The intrinsic spatial resolution of the detectors is around 0.7 mm FWHM both for the 5 mm and the 10 mm thick crystals. The simulated one-pass list mode (SOPL) algorithm is employed for image reconstruction to fully exploit the continuous nature of the data. The FWHM of the reconstructed point-like sources is better than 1 mm FWHM, which make us confident that sub-millimeter spatial resolution can be achieved in PET images. |
