Application of Micro-Pattern Gas Detectors to Imaging Calorimetry

Abstract

We describe the development of large-area (1m x1m), very thin, and high sensitivity gas detectors based on Gas Electron Multiplier (GEM) and Micromegas technologies as a sensitive medium for sampling calorimeters for a use in future collider experiments.
